Man In The Shirt

The first time Eskild Ebbesen sat in a single scull, he rowed 23 kilometers. Not because anyone asked him to, but because he wanted to see how far he could push his body and when it would say stop.

This curiosity sparked a career where Eskild Ebbesen became one of Denmark's most successful Olympic athletes ever, including three gold medals, as a key member of the legendary "Guldfireren" for 20 years. Throughout, he built his performance on one fundamental belief: no one becomes a world champion without being deeply curious and eager to learn. This approach meant that nothing was taken for granted—not even what everyone else considered optimal.

In this Man in the Shirt episode, Eskild Ebbesen shares how he and Guldfireren consistently dared to challenge the status quo and question "that's how we usually do it," how he maintained top form for over 20 years by training smarter rather than just more, and why he always had one goal in mind: to beat yesterday's version of himself.
